Maria Taylor was born in Worksop of Greek Cypriot parentage. Her family later moved to London. She now lives in Leicestershire with her husband and twin daughters.
Her first collection, Melanchrini, was published in 2012 by Nine Arches Press. Her poetry and reviews have been published and are forthcoming in a variety of publications including The Rialto, The North, The Times Literary Supplement, Under the Radar and Stand. Her work also appears in various anthologies including The Poetry of Sex, 2014.
Maria organizes poetry readings and presents at the ever popular Shindig readings in Leicester run jointly by Crystal Clear Creators and Nine Arches Press. She has read at many poetry festivals including Ledbury and the Cheltenham Poetry Festival.
In 2013 she was shortlisted for the Michael Murphy Memorial prize for her debut collection
